The Federal Government agrees on a security package Greater security for Germany

The Federal Government has agreed on a package of measures for improving the security situation in Germany. These will make it easier to carry out deportations and strengthen authorities in their fight against violent Islamism, as well as further tightening weapons legislation.

The solidarity surcharge (Solidaritätszuschlag) is a surcharge on income tax and corporation tax, introduced to meet the costs of German unification. The surcharge is currently 5.5 percent.
