Discussions for the Future at Schloss Meseberg Advanced training opens up new opportunities

Discussions with partners from both sides of industry are important, said Chancellor Angela Merkel in Meseberg, in order to ensure that people are able to make the most of the opportunities offered by digitalisation. She was hosting the 10th "Discussions for the Future" in Schloss Meseberg. This year’s topic was artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on corporate and working processes.

The Cabinet, partners from both sides of industry and Chris Boos from the digital council took the example of the company Bosch to discuss what AI means for Germany as a centre for research and innovation.

Everyone will have to keep learning

It is a good thing that the German government agreed a few days ago on a national advanced training strategy, said Chancellor Angela Merkel. Everybody, she said, managers, politicians and employees alike, will have to keep learning. Discussions with partners on both sides of industry are important, she continued, to ensure that people are able to make the most of the opportunities offered by these technological changes.

Harnessing technology – avoiding the drawbacks

Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz considers it particularly important to make full use of the opportunities, while taking steps to protect oneself from risks. The revenue from the recent auction of G5 frequencies mean that the IT in schools can now be upgraded and broadband coverage expanded. It is important, he said, to ensure a working world with good jobs, including a good income. Olaf Scholz hoped that the discussions would indicate how these things can be brought together.
