"Yes, Mr President, I accept the result of the vote." That was Angela Merkel's response to the question of Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble.
Wolfgang Schäuble wished Angela Merkel, "From the bottom of my heart, strength and success and God's blessing in the challenges that lie ahead". Others were quick to offer their congratulations too.
From the German Bundestag the Chancellor went straight to Schloss Bellevue.
