Frankfurt am Main, 12.09.2013: Chancellor Angela Merkel opens the 65th International Motor Show (IAA).
Electric mobility and connected cars are the focuses of the innovations on show this year.
As well as electric vehicles, manufacturers are presenting hybrid cars.
Germany’s automotive industry is the country’s most research-intensive branch, said Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The International Motor Show (IAA) is the only motor show anywhere in the world that showcases not only manufacturers but also the entire supply chain.
A total of 1098 exhibitors from 35 countries are showing their latest products. Manufacturers and suppliers are presenting 159 products for the first time anywhere in the world.
""This year’s International Motor Show gives us a hint of things to come, and shows us how driving is set to change," said the Chancellor.
"In future it will be easier to find the closest car park and manage traffic flows more efficiently, and road safety will be further improved," Angela Merkel continued.
German manufacturers and suppliers are constantly setting new international standards and trends, declared the Chancellor.
