Kista, 13 May 2024: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz travelled to Sweden for a meeting with the Nordic Council and was welcomed by host Ulf Kristersson (fourth from left).
Together with the other heads of government, the Federal Chancellor was first given a tour of the Ericsson showroom, one of two European telecommunications providers with the capacity to construct 5G networks.
Scholz said it was "privilege" to have another opportunity to take part in the "Nordic Summit", the government summit of the five northern European countries Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. He had previously attended the summit in Oslo in August 2022.

NATO strengthened following Finland and Sweden’s accession to the alliance. Scholz described it as a "security gain for us all". As the Federal Chancellor said at the press conference, security policy was a central issue at the summit.
Stockholm, 14 May 2024: The Federal Chancellor spent the second day of his visit in bilateral talks with Sweden's Prime Minister Kristersson.
They then paid a visit to the non-profit Norrsken Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting innovative entrepreneurs operating in fields related to the UN's 17 global sustainability goals.
Cemvision is one example. The company offers an alternative to the production of portland cement. Their environmentally friendly method utilizes recycled industrial waste material and produces 95 per cent less CO2.
The two leaders also signed an updated version of the German-Swedish innovation partnership.
Germany and Sweden want to collaborate more closely on defence and space policy. Federal Chancellor Scholz: "Thank you for inviting me to Stockholm."
