Berlin, 11 July 2022: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz held further talks with German CEOs on the impact of the war in Ukraine. The aim was to come up with solutions for stable supply chains, secure and affordable energy and inflation, said Scholz.
Olaf Scholz at the Chancellor Dialogue event in Lübeck in the evening – the first in a series of meetings with local citizens. On each occasion, the Federal Chancellor takes 90 minutes to answer questions from members of the public. His aim is to find out what moves people and what their political concerns are.
In Schleswig-Holstein, topics ranged from outpatient care, skilled workers and the lack of obstetric care through to train delays, the revitalisation of city centres and pensions.
Berlin, 12 July 2022: On Tuesday, the new Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob was Federal Chancellor Scholz’s guest at the Chancellery. The 55-year-old entrepreneur was elected Prime Minister on 25 May.
The two leaders stressed that there were no outstanding issues in terms of their bilateral relations, and they agreed on the need for joint European and international action in the face of current challenges.
Berlin, 13 July 2022: Before the cabinet meeting, the Federal Chancellor took the opportunity to wish Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser a happy birthday.
One of the resolutions adopted by the Federal Cabinet was the approval of the German Strategy to Strengthen Resilience to Disasters. Later on, Federal Minister of the Interior Faeser presented her programme for a fresh start in the area of civil protection, together with the Federal Office of Civil Protection and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief.
The task of the Future Council is to leverage potential from research and companies for Germany as an industrial base so as to be able to tackle upcoming challenges in connection with the transformation process. The Federal Chancellor also attended the kick-off meeting at the Chancellery.
Berlin, 14 July 2022: On Thursday, Federal Chancellor Scholz received Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, at the Chancellery. Among other issues, the Federal Chancellor and the Sultan discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy and climate.
In Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Federal Chancellor Scholz was among the guests at the main commemoration ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. More than 180 people died in the floods in western Germany, while many others were injured or lost their belongings.
Following the official part of the ceremony, the Federal Chancellor sought dialogue with those affected.
At the ceremony to mark the anniversary of the flood disaster, the Federal Chancellor thanked people for the “many helping hands and for their overwhelming solidarity”. At the same time, he called for better protection of human lives. “Citizens must receive better warnings. Flood protection must become even more effective!”
