Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz paid tribute to the life and legacy of the deceased British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. “The United Kingdom has lost its Queen, the world has lost a figure of the century,” as the Chancellor said, emphasising that Germany looks full of gratitude to the Queen who, with many others, was deeply committed to ensuring the once wartime adversaries Britain and Germany were able to achieve reconciliation.
