Beijing, 6 September 2019: China's Prime Minister Li Keqiang welcomes Chancellor Angela Merkel with military honours.
It was the Chancellor's twelfth trip to China.
The two-day visit focused on political talks, and trade and economic relations.
As the Chancellor looked on ,German companies signed eleven cooperation agreements in areas including electric mobility, aeronautical engineering and connected driving.
Angela Merkel called for a non-violent solution to the conflict in Hong Kong, guaranteeing the rights and liberties of the citizens of Hong Kong.
Then the Chancellor visited the company ZF-Powertrain - with CEO Holger Klein.
The engineering company offers solutions for automobile manufacturers, mobility service providers and companies in the transport and mobility sectors. Its focus is digital networking and automation.
The Chancellor's first day in China ended with a meeting with President Xi Jinping.
Wuhan, 7 September 2019: On the second day of her visit, the Chancellor was in Wuhan, the economic centre of Hubei Province.
At Huazhong University of Science and Technology Angela Merkel gave a speech. She called on students to continue "China's road to greater openness and reforms".
After her address she engaged in discussion with students.
At the end of the day - a visit to the German automobile supplier Webasto. CEO Holger Engelmann gave the Chancellor a guided tour.
The Webasto Group has a workforce of over 13,000 worldwide. Founded in 1901 in Stockdorf near Munich the company looks back on more than 100 years of company history. In Wuhan a new production plant was officially opened.
