With its new Work Programme, the German Government is planning inter alia

  • to further reduce the burden on the general public. Particular importance attaches to the findings of the "life situation" survey carried out by the Federal Statistical Office. Things are to get easier on family benefits, health and care services and on tax declarations;
  • to further reduce the burden on businesses - especially using a second Bureaucracy Reduction Act;
  • to further improve citizen and business-friendly administration, particularly by extending e-Government solutions;
  • to further improve legislative procedures.

The 2016 Work Programme on Better Regulation contains more than 30 concrete steps and projects aiming to reduce compliance costs for the general public and businesses and to further improve legislative procedures. The German Government is thus enhancing and extending the 2014 Work Programme on Better Regulation adopted at the start of the 18th legislative term. A considerable amount of the Work Programme has already been implemented or is well on the way to being implemented. This is a signal that the work launched in the Federal Government Programme for Bureaucracy Reduction and Better Regulation in 2006 is being resolutely continued in line with the current coalition agreement.
