There will be a number of opportunities in 2014 and 2015 to remember the victims of the two world wars and the Holocaust. They will give us occasion to consider how invaluable it is that Europe has overcome the age of catastrophes and dictatorships – and how important it is to maintain a free and democratic Europe for all our futures.
