Chancellor Angela Merkel flew to the ceremony in Oslo with the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The invited heads of state and government met in the office of the Mayor.
The Chancellor walked to the town hall with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti.
The ceremony was attended by numerous heads of state and government of the European Union, including Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Chancellor Angela Merkel and the French President François Hollande demonstrate Franco-German solidarity, as Thorbjörn Jagland, the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, specifically mentions Franco-German reconciliation.
