Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit announced that the 2022 G7 Summit is to be held at Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps from 26 to 28 June 2022.
Schloss Elmau meets all the logistical and security requirements of a G7 Summit venue. The last G7 Summit under German Presidency took place there in June 2015. With its scenic backdrop, Schloss Elmau has provided an attractive setting for talks and meetings between the heads of state and government in the past: it left a lasting impression worldwide and care was taken to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Germany is due to take over the G7 (“Group of Seven”) Presidency on 1 January 2022 and will therefore host the annual meeting of the heads of state and government of the G7 countries. The G7 consists of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, the United States of America and Canada. The European Union is also represented at all G7 meetings.
On the Federal Government’s official G7 website you will find a wealth of information on the German G7 Presidency: current news, programme priorities and dates, history and background information. The website is available in German and English. You can also keep up to date on our social media channels.
