The situation of children in India and protecting children’s rights worldwide were the focus of talks between Chancellor Angela Merkel and Kailash Satyarthi, 2014 Nobel Peace laureate, whom she welcomed to the Federal Chancellery on Tuesday. Satyarthi was founder of the organisation "Bachpan Bachao Andolan" ("Save Childhood Movement") and has been fighting child labour and child slavery in India and around the globe for decades. He presented the Chancellor with a figurine of Mahatma Gandhi.
