Berlin, 27 November 2019: Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke in the general debate on the 2020 budget in the German Bundestag.
"We have a high-investment budget – no budget has ever included so much investment," stressed the Chancellor. Even with a balanced budget a lot has been achieved for the people, as demonstrated by the government’s mid-term review.
In the evening the Chancellor accepted an invitation to attend the annual meeting of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK). President Eric Schweitzer greeted the Chancellor.
The Chancellor advocated a European cloud to manage industrial data. Europe needs data sovereignty and for that we need to set standards, she declared. "But we also need your readiness, the readiness of German businesses to take this path."
