Jerusalem, 03.10.18: The Chancellor and her Cabinet ministers attended German-Israeli government consultations. In the evening she met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Jerusalem, 04.10.18: The second day began with a visit to the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center.
The Chancellor was accompanied by representatives of all federal ministries.
It is Germany's "everlasting responsibility" to keep alive the memory of the crimes that were the Holocaust, said Angela Merkel during her visit.
"We must keep alive the memory of this crime, and counter anti-Semitism, xenophobia, hatred and violence."
Then the Chancellor was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Haifa.
This was followed by a discussion with students.
The Chancellor and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then found out more about innovative German and Israeli companies.

In the afternoon the two Cabinets met.
At the meeting, the Chancellor said that Germany "and Israel are both of the opinion that everything must be done to prevent Iran obtaining nuclear weapons".
