Portsmouth, 5 June 2019: 75 years ago Allied troops from 15 nations left this port on the south coast of England to launch the attack on Nazi Germany that ultimately led to the end of the Second World War. As well as veterans, the heads of government of the nations involved were invited to the commemoration celebrations, as was Chancellor Angela Merkel.
