"Germany is aware of its responsibility – and of the fact that ambitious goals need ambitious national contributions," said Chancellor Angela Merkel at the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit on Saturday. Five years ago the Paris Agreement on climate change was signed. The Chancellor stressed that affordable capital should be assured worldwide for the necessary investment in climate change mitigation. Germany intends to make available just under 500 million euros in additional funding for this.
