Condolence visit by the Federal Chancellor in Magdeburg

Following the terrible crime on Friday evening, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the scene of the incident at the Christmas market in Magdeburg on Saturday morning. He laid flowers at St. John’s Church together with Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser and Saxony-Anhalt Minister President Reiner Haseloff.
“From the bottom of my heart, I wish all the victims and their families strength and a swift recovery, both physically and mentally,” said Federal Chancellor Scholz. “I am deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened here: we must stand united – and this is precisely what we will do.” He also thanked the emergency services and all the helpers who provided support at the scene.
