Berlin, 20 August 2023: Federal Chancellor Scholz makes his way to the stage through the crowds of visitors to the Open Day.
The appearance of the Federal Chancellor is always a highlight of the annual events at the Chancellery.
Dense crowds around the stage in the forecourt.
The Federal Chancellor was on stage for an hour, during which visitors were able to ask the Chancellor about issues of particular concern to them during the conversation.
Some just wanted to see the Federal Chancellor up close.
When asked what motivated him to get up in the morning, the Chancellor stressed that he – like many others – was concerned with making the world a better place. Justice had been the central concern for him ever since he had started to be politically active, he said.
Scholz emphasised that the Federal Government had ambitious plans but had already achieved a great deal. In the area of social policy, for example, the statutory minimum wage has been raised, housing benefit has been increased, the citizen’s allowance has been introduced, child benefit has been increased, the child supplement has been expanded and a stable pension level has been ensured.
The Federal Chancellor is and will always be a big draw for visitors. Photos with politicians normally only seen on TV are a popular souvenir.
