Berlin, 17 August 2019: "Hallo, Politik" - under this banner the German government invited everybody to come to the open day and take a look behind the scenes in the political heart of Berlin.
One of the highlights - the federal police helicopter in the grounds of the Federal Chancellery. The Federal Chancellery was particularly popular again this year.

Even the international conference room in the Federal Chancellery was open to visitors on open day.

Meanwhile visitors at the Federal Press Office took the chance to print a newspaper from the day they were born.
The many exhibitions helped them explore the history of the Federal Press Office and the many issues being addressed by the German government.
Music, quizzes and discussions were also staged, like this panel discussion with deputy government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer.

At the Federal Ministry of Finance too, minister Olaf Scholz made the most of the opportunity to engage in discussion personally.
At the Federal Ministry of Defence, the Bundeswehr dogs demonstrated how swiftly they can react if necessary. The dog handlers and the dogs work together.
The new Federal Minister of Defence, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, also gained a first hand impression.
In the afternoon the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Monika Grütters, gave visitors a tour of the Federal Chancellery.
...and took a lot of time for everybody who wanted a photo or an autograph.
Berlin, 18 August 2019: At the "government press conference" visitors put their questions to federal government spokesperson Steffen Seibert and the spokespersons from the individual federal ministries.
This is normally where Berlin-based journalists sit and put their questions to the spokespersons, who host a government press conference three times a week.
After the adults it was the turn of the youngest visitors to the Federal Press Office to make their voices heard.
At the press conference with federal government spokesperson Steffen Seibert children and young people raised the issues that interest them: climate policy, the education system and the Chancellor's everyday routine.
In line with this year's motto "Hello, economic policy" the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy also offered a wide range of exciting insights into the day to day work of the ministry. On Sunday, minister Peter Altmaier engaged in dialogue with visitors.
