Version 2.12 of the Corona-Warn-App Simple handling of QR codes and more statistics

The update to version 2.12 now gives all Corona-Warn-App users direct access to the universal QR code scanner. The tab in the app has been adapted for this purpose. In addition, the 7-day hospitalisation incidence and the number of COVID-19 patients in ICUs will be included in the statistics in future.

Version 2.12 of the Corona-Warn-App now includes the universal QR code scanner integrated in the tab at the bottom of the screen, allowing the function to be accessed more quickly and directly. The QR code scanner has also been maintained at the known locations in the app.

Since version 2.11, users have been able to scan all QR codes supported by the Corona-Warn-App, including tests, certificates and check-ins. In the latest update, the symbols on the tab have been adapted, too. Users can now access the start screen via “Status”.

Hospitalisation rate and number of COVID-19 patients in ICUs

The statistics section has also been expanded so that users can continue to use the app to check all the key indicators relevant to the pandemic. These now also include the 7-day hospitalisation incidence and the number of people in ICUs suffering from COVID-19.

The 7-day hospitalisation incidence is the number of people hospitalised due to a COVID-19 diagnosis. It shows the reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of one week. The number of COVID-19 patients in ICUs shows the occupancy rate of intensive care beds in Germany due to COVID-19.

Standardised message settings and QR code import

The new version now also features standardised message settings. As with other apps, users can precisely define settings for Corona-Warn-App notifications in their smartphone device set-up. Not only can they enable and disable notifications as before, they can also set individual notification types.

Another new feature is available to iOS users: they can now import supported QR codes from images and PDF documents. After opening the QR code scanner, they can select “Open file” at the bottom left and import a QR code from their image or file library. This function has been available to Android users since version 2.11 .
