Support grows for the European Monetary Fund

The future European economic strategy and the stability of the euro were the focus of Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to the Netherlands. The Chancellor and the Netherlands' Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende called for more effective instruments to this end.

European Monetary Fund - an instrument in times of crisis

Chancellor Angela Merkel and the French Prime Minister Francois Fillon have discussed the Franco-German Agenda 2020 in more depth. Their meeting focused on learning from the economic and financial crisis. They agreed that a European Monetary Fund is "a good idea".
