Joint statement issued by Chancellor Angela Merkel and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy
Germany and France note that Standard & Poor's have announced that they will be reviewing the credit rating of several euro-zone states.
Germany and France reaffirm their conviction that the proposals made today by the two governments will strengthen the budgetary and economic-policy coordination within the euro zone, and thus foster stability, competitiveness and growth.
Germany and France are determined to take every step necessary to guarantee the stability of the euro zone, along with their European partners and the European institutions.
