Chancellor Angela Merkel on the Oslo bomb attack
"I was shocked and horrified to hear about the massive bomb attack in the government district of Oslo. At the moment the background to this inhuman act is still unclear. What is clear is that all of us who believe in democracy and peaceful coexistence must condemn acts of terrorism of this sort in the strongest possible terms, whatever the reasons advanced.
My deepest sympathy goes to the families of the victims, and I wish those injured a speedy recovery. I would like the Norwegian government and the Norwegian people to know that they have the full support of the German government and the German people."
