G8 summit venue in 2007: Heiligendamm

Mon, 17.07.2006
Germany is due to assume the G8 presidency on January 1, 2007. The dates and venue of the next summit have been established.
Chancellor Angela Merkel has informed the leaders of the seven largest industrial nations that their summit next year will be held in Heiligendamm from June 6th to the 8th. This will be Germany's fifth G8 presidency, having had this honor previously in 1978, 1985, 1992, and 1999.

Heiligendamm is a seaside resort town on the Baltic Sea coast in the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Its charming atmosphere and pleasant surroundings makes it an excellent choice as a summit venue.

Germany is looking forward to holding the summit in Heiligendamm and will make every effort to create a pleasant working atmosphere for the delegations.
